Behind the Scenes of "Just Posting"

Okay, real talk.

There’s a whole side of social media that people never see. Like, it’s not just cute photos, trendy audios, and throwing up a caption real quick. That’s the fun part. What actually happens behind the scenes is a whole different story.

1. “Link in bio” isn’t just a thing people say. It’s because Instagram still won’t let us drop clickable links in captions… so yep, back to the bio we go.

Also- have you ever seen those captions where your favorite content creator says “Put SHOP in caption” It’s because they are using different apps that will automatically send a link straight to your DM’s.

2. Timing matters more than you’d think. That post you made at 9am might flop, but post the same thing at 8pm? Boom, way more reach. It’s all about when people are online. It’s also about who YOUR audience is.

3. A like from someone local > 100 random ones. If you’re a small business, a like from someone in your town can actually turn into a sale. Way better than going viral with strangers who’ll never walk through your doors.

4. Small audience? Who cares. As long as they’re engaged, that’s what counts. Thousands of followers who don’t interact means nothing. Focus on the ones showing up for you.

5. Viral posts don’t just “happen.” They’re planned. There’s strategy. Hook, sound, timing, caption, everything. And even then, it’s still a bit of a gamble. It’s luck of the draw to be honest!

6. Reposting your own stuff? Smart, not lazy. Most people didn’t even see it the first time. Use what worked. Refresh it. Recycle it. Repeat. Some of your audience might not have seen it the first time around.

7. Reach vs. impressions? Not the same. Reach = how many people had your post on screen. Impressions = how many times it was seen (aka Megan saw it 3x and counted for 3).

8. Reels still run the show. Photos are great to have on your feed, but Instagram is pushing video HARD. If you’re not doing Reels, you’re probably missing out on a ton of reach.

9. Every app has its own personality. What pops off on TikTok might tank on Facebook. You gotta read the room (aka the platform).

Bottom line?
