The rule that made my content actually work
Let’s talk about something that seriously changed how I show up online and how my clients show up, too.
It’s called the 3-30-3 Rule and it’s kind of a game changer. If your content’s not converting, this might be why.
THE FIRST 3 SECONDS: STOP THE SCROLL You’ve got 3 seconds (yes, literally) to get someone’s attention before they’re onto the next thing.
So ask yourself:
Is my visual interesting? (movement, color, vibe. Something that pops)
Is the audio working with the post?
Does the first line of my caption actually make someone want to read more?
If the answer’s “eh,” it might be time to tweak.
THE NEXT 30 SECONDS: MAKE THEM FEEL SOMETHING Okay, you got them to pause. Now what?
This is your chance to connect. Use your caption to:
Tell a quick story
Share a win (or a lesson)
Be honest, helpful, or just real
People don’t follow accounts. They follow people. People who show up, give value, and don’t sound like robots.
THE NEXT 3 MINUTES: TURN VIBES INTO ACTION Someone clicked your profile. That’s HUGE. But if your bio’s confusing or your grid’s all over the place, they’re probably out.
Here’s what they need to see: ✨ Who you are ✨ What you help people with ✨ What kind of content they can expect ✨ What they should do next (follow, book, binge your stuff, whatever)
This part does the heavy lifting when it comes to turning a viewer into a follower (or hopefully a client or customer!)
